Family Engagement

Little Cougars are safe, kind, respectful, and ready to learn!

From your Parent Liaison-

Congratulations to you, as a parent or guardian!

Your child is enrolled in an "A" school.

Did you know?  NCES is also a Title I school.  For more information about the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), \Please Click Here.

Virtually all parents say they value education for today's youth.  Family/parent involvement and engagement at NCES are concrete ways that parents can act on this value.  We, at NCES, are excited to be able to give you access to the resources below.  Each month the Parents Make the Difference products are updated to reflect the current issues at hand.

Hot topics for this month's parenting resource are available to you by clicking Parents Make the Difference (Please click here)  or for Spanish (Please click here).  An Early Childhood Edition is also available with a special focus for Kindergarten parents and parents of Preschoolers by clicking here.  By providing this monthly resource to you, Newton County Schools remain vigilant to support family involvement during these elementary years and beyond.  More resources are available to you through the Parent Center located at 15935 Highway 15 North, including Home Sweet Homework-A Parent's Guide to Stress-free Homework.  Copies are available for purchase or check-out.

On-campus family involvement opportunities are also available to you as well as membership in the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization).  WatchD.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students) is a safe school initiative currently in place at NCES.  Fathers, father-figures, and community leaders are invited to sign-up to be a part of this POSITIVE family involvement opportunity.  More information is available by clicking-WatchD.O.G.S (Please Click here). To sign-up for WatchD.O.G.S. or volunteer through our M.O.M.S. initiative, please contact the Parent Center at 769-757-0600 or click here to email. For more details on PTO membership, please email Katie Thoms(Please click here to Email).

Is your time limited?  Your involvement in downloading the BoxTop$ for Education app to your phone is important. By scanning your receipts as well as sharing the benefits of this app with your co-workers, the future phases in the Playground Upgrade can soon be reality.

There are multiple ways for everyone to be involved in education at NCES!

In closing, with the popularity of electronic devices among students, please continue to monitor the apps, links, and games, as there is now a new face to "stranger danger" among the youth of today.  If you have any questions on who or what may be behind the screen of some of the apps, please call the Parent Center at 769-757-0600 for trusted websites that can direct you to valuable information.
